Time for Christmas Presents!

No Hurries

It’s time for Christmas presents and what a wonderful time of year it is! Of course, I was going to make Christmas presents this year for everyone. The overwhelming majority got t-shirts but there were a few tea towels and throw pillows thrown in. Everything I gifted was inked. Ink designs are permanent once heat set. Inking is my favourite thing to do and I am learning more and more as I go.

This first year, there were a couple of problems. Some I can fix with technique and others I could not have fixed based on the material used. There was one tee that seemed to have dye that ran. And it kept coming up through the ink and I had to re-ink the design more than once. Lesson learned is that not all t-shirts can be inked. Same lesson learned with tea towels. If the nap is too thick, it is difficult to ink and hard to read the design once done. Starting with the right material is key to success.

And, I again learned the lesson that I have to teach myself over and over and over. Be patient. Although I continue to ruin designs by touching them or working the next layer before they are dry, that is a personality flaw. It takes longer to solve. lol.

But I did end up with a pile of tees that everyone loved receiving.

All of the kids were sending me photos of them wearing them on Christmas day. So I am glad I made gifts this year. I am going to do it again next year and I have a lot of time to think about what I will make.
