Create and Take on November 19 – Oh What Fun!

Create and Take Nov 19

Our Create and Take on November 19 was a family fun night hosted by my good friend, Heike. The surface she chose was the Reclaimed Metal Tray and we decided it would be Christmas themed. The idea was they would have an evening of fun together and have something DIY Christmas décor to take home with them. Heike was pretty sure they would want to seal their designs. She asked me to pick up spray sealant on my way. I was not able to make the stop in time. Although it turns out that was a good thing, but more on that later.

Upon arrival, while enjoying some great wine, they browsed the Christmas transfers. Most assured me they were not creative or talented artistically at all. I just smiled and said, anyone can create a masterpiece in minutes with Chalk Couture. I could hardly wait for them to peel and reveal. The surprise gets me every time.

Well, it turned out, they were all very creative. Soon, they were mixing elements from one transfer with elements of another transfer in a delightful transfer mash up to create their own unique designs! Every tray turned out beautiful and unique.

In a confirmation of learning something new with every experience, one of the ladies created an ombre inspired Merry Christmas using a downward swipe of the squeegee over the letters to clean off the excess paste. I never would have thought of that! I always do ombre in a sideways swipe across the words. The effect she got was super cool so I will definitely be trying that out in my craft room.

We all had a fantastic time. Oh, and that sealant? Turns out we might not need it because it was so much fun we are thinking we will change the design out seasonally. Any excuse to get together and chalk with friends works for me!

If you would like to get together with friends for an evening of chalking fun, email me and we will set up a date!
